True or false? College is all about classes, writing papers and studying for exams. Answer: False. At Fairmont State, it’s about finding yourself. This means you will lay a firm foundation for lifelong learning and a career. Some of that will happen in class, at the library and in study groups. But some of it will occur as you assume leadership positions on campus, serve the larger community and try new things. Fairmont State has more than 85 student organizations ranging from Student Government, professional and honorary societies to fraternities, sororities, music groups, religious clubs and art clubs. Many of our students participate in Intramural sports such as flag football, softball, horseshoes and backgammon. FSU is a member of the NCAA, Division II, and the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with 14 varsity athletic programs available for men and women. The Office of Student Affairs and the School of Fine Arts present quality theatre, art and musical events throughout the year. You’ll have the opportunity to hear nationally prominent speakers with diverse viewpoints. You’ll learn and grow as a person – inside and outside of the classroom.
