Living in the UT Austin Community

Since our founding in 1883, students have been coming to The University of Texas at Austin to seek challenges and prepare themselves to help make this world a better place. As you enter an important time of transition in your life, what challenges will you pursue? And where will you choose to take them on? For many this journey begins at The University of Texas at Austin. What Starts Here Changes the World.

The University of Texas at Austin is one of the largest and most respected academic and research universities in the nation and the world. We are a campus of over 434 acres, over 52,000 students, and more than 3,000 faculty. Ours is a diverse community, with students from more than 124 countries and a student body that reflects the face of our society. Black, Hispanic, and Asian students make up almost 40% of total enrollment, and nearly 1 out of 10 are international students. But size is also an indication of our diversity - not just in the cultural makeup of our campus - but in the depth and range of our academic offerings which are unmatched by most other public universities. The university provides superior and comprehensive educational opportunities at the baccalaureate through doctoral and special professional educational levels.
