Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Learning Outcomes

Assessment of student learning outcomes is essential to enhance the learning process throughout the institution. The University uses several assessment methods to determine the outcomes of student learning in general education, academic majors and student life programs. General education assessment involves the measurement of identified course objectives through class participation, quizzes, exams and other academic testing. In addition to course-based measures, assessment of student learning in the majors is accomplished through capstone courses, major-related projects, internships, and other culminating experiences. Student learning outside the classroom is assessed through, leadership and involvement  activities, employment and volunteer experiences.  Academic and non-academic programs also undergo formal assessment through regularly scheduled program reviews, and assessments by professional accreditation teams.  Assessment findings are used to improve programs and enhance student learning and development in accordance with the university’s mission and strategic plan.
