From Here, It's Possible.
Welcome to Angelo State University. We are a comprehensive university known for our personalized attention, which makes us a popular university home for many first-generation college students. We offer 45 undergraduate degrees in 21 departments and five colleges plus 28 graduate degrees through the College of Graduate Studies.
As a member of the Texas Tech University System, we offer a variety of combination programs where our students can get undergraduate degrees at ASU and then accelerated graduate degrees at Texas Tech. Our 268-acre residential campus provides you an intimate and safe learning environment, where small classes and a dedicated faculty create a family atmosphere that fosters your success.
At Angelo State we offer an extensive gift aid program, including the Carr Academic Scholarships, to augment other financial aid opportunities and to ease your financial burdens. If you score at or above 21 on the ACT or 990 on the SAT, you could qualify for a Carr Scholarship, ranging from $1,500 to $5,000.
Our goal at Angelo State is to help you realize all the possibilities in your career, in the growth of your community, whether local or global, and in the pursuit of the common good for society. From here, it's possible.
Great Place to Learn and Grow
Our Angelo State University community is made up of 6,856 students like you, representing 217 of Texas’ 254 counties, 42 states and 19 countries. Each fall we welcome new students with Rambunctious Weekend, a chance for you to have some fun and get to know your classmates before classes start. Once classes begin, our First-Year Experience (FYE) is there to help. Think of FYE as a GPS or Global Positioning System to help you navigate your way through your inaugural semesters at college.
Sure you’ll have your studies to think of, but you’ll also have a host of extracurricular activities to consider. You can choose from more than 100 student organizations suited to virtually any interest you might have and from dozens of intramural opportunities, both on campus and off where you can compete against squads from other universities. A handful of our intramural teams have won regional and even national titles. If your sports interests run more to the spectator side of athletics, you can support the Rams and Rambelles, who have won national titles in softball (2004) and track and field (2010), in NCAA Division II and Lone Star Conference competition. For recreation you can visit the ASU Lake House to go kayaking on beautiful Lake Nasworthy or play sand volleyball by the shore.
If you just want to hang around campus, you’ll always find plenty to do, ranging from impromptu study groups in the Porter Henderson Library to billiards and video games in the nearby University Center. With all the academic and recreational opportunities along with new residence halls attuned to the needs of 21st century students, you will find ASU to be the perfect starting point for your life's journey because from here, it's possible.

Our campus is one of the safest in Texas. Located in a quiet neighborhood, Angelo State maintains its own police department with officers patrolling campus around the clock. Emergency call boxes are located throughout campus, convenient to where students congregate.
The Carnegie Classification's were created "to reference the great diversity of colleges and universities in the United States, and ... enable [people] to identify groups of roughly comparable institutions." Students who are actively involved in their own learning and development are more likely to be successful in college. Colleges and universities offer students a wide variety of opportunities both inside and outside the classroom to become engaged with new ideas, people, and experiences. ASU measures the effectiveness of these opportunities in a variety of ways to better understand what types of activities and programs students find the most helpful. One way is by participating in the National Survey of Student Engagement.
Institutions participating in the VSA program measure student involvement on campus using one of four national surveys. Results from the one survey are reported for a common set of questions selected as part of VSA. Following are the selected results from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). The questions have been grouped together in categories that are known to contribute to student learning and development. The results reported below are based on the responses of seniors who participated in the survey.
