KU provides around-the-clock police and security protection for the campus. The Public Safety and Police Services Department comprises 15 police officers who are fully commissioned by the Commonwealth. Safety features include: safety walks, campus safety escorts, personal defense programs, student orientation programs, a campus alert system, CPR and first aid training, campus shuttles, emergency operation planning, and a neighborhood watch program in the borough. In addition, an external security agency supplements patrol efforts, dispatching services and parking enforcement.
