California University of Pennsylvania is located in the borough of California (pop. 6,800), on the banks of the Monongahela River about 35 miles from Pittsburgh.
Cal U’s location blends the warmth of a small-town setting with easy access to urban amenities. The main campus opens onto town, while the upper campus includes recreation areas and greenspace. California Borough is just a short drive from heritage sites and state parks suitable for hiking, fishing, skiing and whitewater rafting. Less than an hour away, the city of Pittsburgh offers museums, concerts, theater and other cultural events, as well as shopping, dining and professional sports.
