Shawnee State University is located on a beautiful 62-acre campus along the banks of the Ohio River in Portsmouth, Ohio. Our community is student-focused, which means that your success is at the center of everything we do, from the types of support services offered in our Student Success Center to the variety of extracurricular activities provided throughout campus. Shawnee State has more than 45 clubs and organizations to fit your interests, plus a variety of intramural sports and weekly offerings from the student programming board, Greek organizations, Student Activities, and student government association. We are home to the SSU Bears - competing in 13 intercollegiate sports. Our residential students live in modern apartment-style housing on campus, and our newly renovated University Center - which was designed with student input - provides you with a host of amenities, including dining areas, book store, and spacious lounges.
