The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is redefining the role of a metropolitan university for both its students and community. Our 15,000 students have access to over 200 accredited academic, research, and service programs at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels, many of which have national rankings. UNO has earned both a Doctoral Research University and Community Engagement classification by the Carnegie Foundation, and has been on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for seven, consecutive years now. Ranked sixth in military friendliness by “The Military Times,” UNO has many options for military and veteran students online, on-base, and on campus. The Bachelor of General Studies program, which can be completed online, is ranked #11 by U.S. News and World Report.
UNO recently completed $200 million facility improvements including the only LEED gold-certified academic building in the state for our College of Business Administration, an updated recreation center, apartment style housing, and library. UNO is currently constructing a community engagement center; the first of its kind on a university campus, as well as a biomechanics building. A new on-campus arena for athletics, campus events, and community functions will be completed in the next few years. The UNO Mavericks are a member of the Division 1 Summit League. The UNO Maverick hockey team is the one of the top ranked Division 1 teams in the country.

For example, MTV named Omaha the #2 Best Up-and-Coming Cities for music with many great acts stopping here, but also a healthy music scene all its own. Omaha also balances out its vibrant city life with lots of green space, parks, gardens and the Missouri Riverfront. There’s something for everyone, and with UNO’s is central location, just outside of the Midtown area, students can easily make it to anywhere in the city quickly whether in their own vehicle or via easy-to-access public transportation.
