Campus Safety

Mayville State University is located in a small, rural community with a low incidence of criminal activity. University nightwatch staff conduct foot patrols in university buildings and grounds daily and have close contact with the county sheriff's department. The university does not have its own police force but relies on the Traill County Sheriff's Department for professional staff assistance when incidents of criminal activity occur. Security in residence halls is maintained through locked doors on a 24 hour basis. Special student workers are employed within the residence halls to conduct regular evening patrols and to maintain contact with other residence hall staff. Professional staff are assisted by other student residence assistants in each hall to provide additional support and assistance to students and to assure adherence to security policies and procedures.
