Founded in 1898 to prepare teachers, the institution today is a public, comprehensive, largely residential regional university offering programs in the sciences, education, business, the arts and humanities at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Frostburg State University is located in the Appalachian Highlands of Western Maryland on a 260-acre rural campus. Approximately 5,000 students enroll at Frostburg in any given year. The university’s highly successful Preview FSU Summer Orientation Program prepares first-time students for college life and introduces them to the campus and community. FSU’s Student and Educational Services Division provides various resources for students, including offices for: Advising and Career Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Disability Support Services, Programs for Academic Support Services, Student Support Services, a Diversity Center, and a Substance Abuse Fact and Education Office. FSU students have numerous opportunities to participate in athletics, service learning, study abroad, and extra-curricular student activities and organizations.
