Washburn is committed to providing a safe campus and learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Residence hall access is restricted by card key and the halls feature a number of other safety measures. The University Police Department serves the campus 24 hours per day with trained, certified officers. The Police Department provides safety escorts as well as assistance with vehicles (e.g., locked keys in car, jump starts). Student Government sponsors Safe Ride where students can call for a free ride home after an evening out.
