The Pittsburg State University Police force provides the campus with continuous patrol protection day and night. This protection includes residence halls and all parking lots, as well as fraternity and sorority residences. In addition to regular police patrols, the university has the ability to monitor high traffic areas of campus thanks to its recent investment in a new network of security cameras.
PSU officers are commissioned by the State of Kansas and have the same law enforcement powers and responsibilities as members of the local police and sheriff departments.
In the event of an emergency, Pittsburg State University is able to alert its students, faculty and staff through the use of a robust emergency notification system. This system includes outdoor voice notification outlets, as well as text messaging, e-mail, web, social media, electronic signage, and other forms of communication.
