Bachelor’s Degree Recipients’ First-destination Survey Results

Graduates of Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne follow many paths in their first year after receiving their degree. We asked about their first destination after graduation using the following question:

In the 2014-15 reporting year, 1374 students graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Graduates who attended Commencement were asked to complete a brief survey about their future plans, and the survey asked them to designate “What is most likely to be your principal activity upon graduation?” Some 301 new graduates provided responses to the survey, either at Commencement or when they picked up their diploma in the registrar’s office in the next few weeks, which is a 22% response rate. The results of the survey are presented in the VSA College Portrait table. The survey population also included new graduates receiving certificates, associate degrees, and master’s degrees. Survey results for these students are presented in the supplementary “Public Good” page 6 of the College Portrait.

Graduates were asked to select only their primary activity that best matched their plans after graduation. Some graduates may pursue multiple options at the same time, which is important to keep in mind when reviewing these results. 22% responded and their answers are shown in the chart below
