The Illinois Community
Surrounded by a vibrant community
Champaign-Urbana is one of the most cosmopolitan small cities in the country. The twin cities feature a variety of top-notch theaters, museums, restaurants, and entertainment venues in their downtown areas, just a short walk or free bus ride from campus. Between the Wall-to-Wall Guitar festival in the fall and the Ebertfest movie festival in the spring, there are wonderful cultural opportunities during the school year; summertime brings Taste of Champaign, the Summer Studio Theatre, and the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival. More than 80 parks and recreation facilities are open to students. Our students are actively involved in the C-U community, serving as mentors in the schools or volunteers in hundreds of local organizations.
