50 Years of Transforming Lives

Metropolitan State University of Denver has been transforming lives and empowering students to find their personal road to success for more than 50 years. Located in the heart of the city, MSU Denver offers a life-transforming education to more than 20,000 inspiring and diverse students. Small classes, workforce-relevant degrees, engaged professors, a vibrant campus and affordable tuition make it possible for students to run their own road when it comes to higher education.

MSU Denver attracts one in five undergraduate students in Colorado. Some reasons include:

  • Most affordable tuition of Colorado’s five large public universities
  • 240 program options including 5 master’s degrees in: accounting, business administration, education, health administration and social work
  • Ranked among the nation’s 660 Top Colleges by Forbes, a rating that recognizes the high return on investment the University offers its students
  • Accredited by AACSB, a distinction earned by only 5 percent of business schools worldwide
  • Regularly acknowledged by Military Timesas one of the top Colorado colleges for veterans
  • 2015 STEM Jobs-Approved university
  • Recognized as one of 10 Diversity Champion 2016 colleges and universities in the nation by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine

Roadrunners stay in Colorado after graduation, too, with 75 percent of MSU Denver’s 87,000-plus alumni enriching the state with their hard-working, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.

MSU Denver shares the 127-acre Auraria Campus in downtown Denver with the Community College of Denver and the University of Colorado-Denver. MSU Denver’s award-winning Hotel and Hospitality Learning Center provides hospitality students on-the-job experience in a working hotel, restaurant and conference center. The new Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver provides competition and recreation space for NCAA Division II athletic teams, students and the community. By fall of 2017, the new Aerospace Engineering Sciences Building will bring together aviation and aerospace science; civil, mechanical and electrical engineering technology; computer information systems and computer science; and industrial design.

MSU Denver educates more students of color than any other of the state’s four-year institutions and embraces inclusivity in an urban campus setting—36 percent of MSU Denver’s fall 2015 class were students of color, while 23 percent of faculty members are professors of color. The University also has a goal to become a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution with 25 percent Latino enrollment by 2018.

MSU Denver provides many resources to help students succeed, including tutoring services, the First Year Success Program, campus employment, off-campus internships and a career services office. MSU Denver’s Access Center helps students with disabilities succeed in college. The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Student Services office works to foster diversity and inclusivity throughout the Auraria Campus.
